Spend Time in Nature … in front of your tv?

ss1ss2ss3ss4Like all nature lovers, I am investing much of my free time this week to watch The National Parks: America’s Best Idea a film by Ken Burns showing on PBS.

The history of the development of the National Parks is interesting. The interviews add depth and meaning to the formation and protection of some of the most beautiful places in the world. However, the best part of this film is the photography. It is simply amazing. The film makers either did a ton of research about exactly when to visit each and every park to get the best shots … or they were extremely lucky to be in the right place at exactly the right time (probably both). The beauty they have captured in photos and film is a national treasure in itself.

Watching this film is like spending actual time in nature. It is peaceful and relaxing as it reaches into my soul inspiring me to take some amazing vacations. Is it making you travel in your dreams, too?

If you have missed any or all of the episodes, you can still view them on the internet for free. They are available until October 9th. (photos in this post are from the PBS website explaining the series)

Naturally, I am waiting in excited anticipation for the episode where they visit Brooks Falls, Katmai National Park when I will get to watch the Grizzly bears fishing for salmon!
Please share your favorite scenes from this magnificently filmed program.
